The best of both worlds
One of the most alluring pairings when considering a trip to Africa is the idea of combining a truly wild safari experience (or two!) with some postcard-perfect beach bliss.
We’ve penned one of our favourite, off-the-beaten path combinations just for you. Enjoy an authentic Zambian safari in the world-famous South Luangwa National Park at Tafika Camp, topped with a stay on the beautiful Malawi’s Likoma Island where the beach-chic property, Kaya Mawa, is located.
There's no more intimate way to explore the wilderness than on foot, with only a pair of binoculars and an expert guide. Walking safaris are all about appreciating the little moments - the call of a francolin, the fresh smell of elephants nearby, the alarm call of a kudu, or lions roaring in the distance
The beautiful freshwater Lake Malawi is fast becoming one of the best places on the continent for a little post-safari R&R. Known as the "Lake of Stars", the shimmering expanse of water is one of the largest lakes in Africa– so big, in fact, that you'd be forgiven for thinking you were beside the Indian Ocean. Here, it’s time for freshwater diving, snorkelling, fishing, kayaking or just some good old-fashioned beach time on the sandy shores.
At the end of the day, should you long to skip the bush and head straight to the beach – we won’t tell…
Tafika Camp is the perfect symphony of luxurious rusticity located on a sweeping bend of Zambia’s Luangwa River and overlooking the Nsefu sector of the national park.
In the warm heart of Africa on Likoma Island, Lake Malawi, lies a blissfully chilled, luxury bush camp aptly named Kaya Mawa, meaning, maybe tomorrow!Related Item
