Praia Sundy
Referred to as the Galapagos of Africa, Príncipe is an adventure. This tiny island floating in the Gulf of Guinea, home to Praia Sundy, is topped by a canopy of green, tropical rainforest bordering stretches of golden sand beaches and turquoise waters.

Praia Sundy

The islands of São Tomé and Príncipe are Africa's second smallest nation. As the smaller, northern major island of the country of São Tomé and Príncipe lying off the west coast of Africa in the Gulf of Guinea, Príncipe has an area of 53 square miles and a population of only 7,000. The island is a heavily eroded volcano speculated to be over thirty million years old.

There are three international flights per week from either Lisbon, Portugal or Luanda, Angolo, to São Tomé. Sister hotel, OMALI, is the perfect base for an overnight stay before heading off the next day on a short but spectacular 35 minute flight to Príncipe.

Praia Sundy has captured the perfect balance between nature, design and comfort – all the ingredients needed to fully immerse in this primal destination. The fifteen tented villas (one-, two- and three- bedroom villas) have spacious indoor and outdoor areas with private terraces gaining easy access to the beach. The pool bar with the infinity pool and relaxed style is the epicentre of activity during the day while the magnificently designed bamboo dining area is where local organic produce is transformed into an unforgettable culinary journey.

It is distinctively West African with a very strong Portuguese influence giving it a rhythm of its own and setting it apart from any experiences in East and Southern African. A myriad of fully immersive adventures are available, including 4X4 experiences exploring the island, plantation tours, the hatchings of sea turtles (seasonal), boat trips to various bays and beaches, whale and dolphin viewing (seasonal) and plenty of guided trail hikes with picnics in the middle of the jungle, birdwatching along the way.
