Living my best life!

This past weekend, I took the opportunity to experience the newly launched Morukuru Beach Lodge in the De Hoop Nature Reserve. What better way to spend some special time away than to share it with Pieter, baby Matie and our dearest mothers (aka dedicated baby sitters!). The start of the whale season and clear winter days provided perfect backdrop for long hikes and trail running along the pristine coastal paths. Faultless service and comfortable suites allowed plenty of down time and the evenings found us playing board games and spending quality time together.

Morukuru Beach Lodge is about a 10 minute walk from Morukuru Ocean House private villa which was launched about 5 years ago. The De Hoop Nature Reserve is a magical region – think miles of untouched marine coastline, beautiful coastal fynbos dotted with a variety of wildlife and white dunes where one can enjoy feeling the sand in your toes. This is where Pieter and I met 3 years ago and a destination we will continue to visit in the future.

If you have yet to visit make sure its included on your next trip to South Africa.

A sanctuary of serenity, Morukuru Beach Lodge is situated on the pristine wilderness of De Hoop Nature Reserve, along South Africa’s beautiful Cape Whale Coast.

The De Hoop Nature Reserve is an exceptionally beautiful region along the Cape Whale Coast, just a three hour drive from Cape Town near the southern most tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas. Set aside many years ago as an experimental wildlife protection area, the idea was to create a haven where vulnerable and endangered species could be nurtured and their numbers brought back from the brink of extinction, before repopulating surrounding areas.

This conservation initiative doesn’t end at the shoreline – the bay is internationally renowned for some iconic marine giants. Migrating Southern Right Whales, amongst other species, flock to these waters between July & November and can be viewed easily from land.
